While at the Dallas Quilt show I purchased a fat quarter of this amusing print - perfect for a budding scientist.
Here's the center, four hourglass blocks that finish about 19-inches. Working with scale. Finally.

The next border will probably be some Chinese Coins. What else?
Enjoy the day, Ann

such cute fabric and babies love the bright colors! :)
Great fabric choice. The new parents will love this! Baby will too.
Fun!!!
What a nifty print! I found it on Fabrics.com if you happen to need more. (Timeless Treasures "Scientific Method.") Might be fun to make a row of plus signs and/or a row of X's.
Perfect print for a scientist--love those themed fabrics...coins would be great...hugs, Julierose
If it were me, I'd add some scientific equations, like A2 (squared) + B2 = C2 where the 2's are superscripts, you know. Or I'd add some scientific characters. But what might be more fun would be some emoticons. :=)
How cute. Looking forward to the next step. Looks like you have some fun suggestions.
What a wonderful baby quilt especially since the first colors baby sees are black, white and red. You should share this with Michelle on her Let's Make Baby Quilts linky post so others can see it. You are quick.
Nice hourglass block, Ann. The fabric is bright with good contrast.
Fun for a little one.
Very cute!
What fun fabric! Pairing it with the polka dots looks great. The dots pick up on the Saturn image.
Thanks, Deb. I remember that, too, so hope he will enjoy it.
Thanks. It's such an amusing print.
Good to know where I can easily purchase more. I like your idea of plus and x's. I've cut a few small pinwheels but they don't look nearly as cute. Thanks, Nann.
I was hoping to combine Coins and small pinwheels but really like Nann's suggestion. This print just made me laugh. I needed that. Thanks, Julie Rose.
You and Nann are so clever. Much better ideas than mine. I just need to get inspired to start the border(s). Thanks, Lynn.
Aren't quilters clever and generous. Their suggestions are so much better than my idea. I'm going to try some out, Cathy.
I've read that about babies, too. Thanks, Angie.
I wanted something very simple to show off the fabric and try to work with scale. Thanks, Janie.
Thanks, Pamela.
Ah, you noticed. I liked that print with the polka dots, Patty. Both larger prints but enough scale difference.
Let's hope the rest goes as well, Glen.
For some reason, that story sounds very familiar...
You're so observant, Preeti.
You've got some great suggestions for borders here - I wonder which you will choose.
